The United States is in a state of suspended animation as we await the results of the long-anticipated presidential election. 

For over a year we’ve been swimming in a field of collective dread. Last week everyone I ran into was talking about the upcoming election, including old friends from the San Francisco Bay Area, past and current clients, and friends over dinner Saturday night.

What do we do with such a pervasive heaviness covering our collective consciousness?

On Friday I led an unexpected systemic constellation on this question, which came up as a question from a participant in a Diwali New Moon Circle. The outcome was powerful. 

Despite the strong representation of conflict, anger, fear, self-protectiveness, and even hopelessness, by the end we all felt a softening, a shift to seeing our common plight as bewildered children of the Divine.

The video above describes this constellation, and the dream of a plane crash I had 2 nights later. Despite the bumpy landing, the dream has a positive ending, which I interpret as my own hopefulness based in our essential human vitality. A positive outcome, no matter what, is available to us. 

It wasn’t easy to get to this softening point in the constellation. It took a lot of courage from the representatives! And despite the simplicity of what we set up, it took a full 45 minutes for there to be an authentic heart opening in the group.
